What is happening?

The University will be upgrading our Microsoft cloud resources that are available to SE students during the timeframe of May 8-10, 2026.  The planned upgrades will directly impact SE student email and OneDrive cloud storage.

How does this affect me?

During the upgrade process, please note that your SE student email address will remain unchanged.  However, your current email messages will not be automatically migrated to the upgraded system.  This is also true of the files saved to your OneDrive cloud storage.  If you wish to retain any existing email messages or OneDrive files, you must save them before the upgrade begins on May 8, 2026.  Email messages and/or OneDrive files not saved prior to the upgrade will be removed from the system and are irretrievable.  Therefore, it is extremely important that you prioritize the saving of any email or files you wish to retain prior to the system upgrade.

What do I need to do?

If you do not feel that you need any of the data stored on Outlook or OneDrive on your SE account, nothing. Your data will be wiped on May 8th, and you will still be able to log into your account just the same. If you do feel the need to keep some or all of your data, we have created step-by-step videos to assist you with the process of saving any messages or files that you wish to retain.

Step 1: Install Outlook (for backing up emails)

The locally installed Microsoft Outlook app is required to save your existing email messages.  Microsoft Outlook is part of the Microsoft Office 365 suite, which is available to all SE students.  Linked below are instructional videos for the installation of Microsoft O365 on both a Windows or MacOS device.

Step 2: Backup Emails

By utilizing the locally installed Microsoft Outlook app from ‘Step 1’ above, you will be able to back up and save any email messages that you wish to retain.  Linked below are instructional videos for using Microsoft Outlook to save your existing messages on either a Windows or MacOS device.

Step 3: Backup OneDrive

Below you will find an instructional video on how to save files you wish to retain that are currently stored on your Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage.  This video will cover both Windows and MacOS devices.

By utilizing these instructional videos, you will be able to successfully retain any email messages and/or OneDrive files that you wish as long as you do so prior to May 8, 2026.
