Due to a hardware failure within the University’s core switch, there will be a network outage estimated to be between 3-5 hours for completion of repairs during this month’s regularly scheduled maintenance which will occur on Friday, February 11, 2022 between the hours of 5 PM – 10 PM. The network outage will impact users on campus as well as off campus. The only online resource that will not be impacted is the University’s website when being accessed from off campus. However, there will be an outage of all other network resources to include on campus telephone service and the following systems: Blackboard, Colleague Self-Service, University e-mail, as well as all other single sign-on (SSO) systems not specifically mentioned by name. SE Information Technology places the highest possible emphasis on system uptime. However, continued operation of the core switch without replacing the failed component puts the University at risk for a more significant and prolonged outage. For this reason, it is necessary to utilize this month’s regularly scheduled maintenance period to address the issue. The duration of the network outage will be kept to an absolute minimum, and barring any unforeseen issues will be completed during the normal maintenance window. SE Information Technology would ask that our entire University community plan for this network outage. You will see a reminder of this scheduled network outage numerous times in the coming week via email, as a Blackboard and SE Website announcement, and on SE Information Technology’s social media. As always, we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding in these matters.
